SOA Generations?

In the commentary section of recent post on causes of IT complexity, Roger Sessions (ObjectWatch) described 3 eras of Enterprise Architecting:
  • Need to align IT and business - Zachman
  • Need a process - FEA, TOGAF
  • Need something thinner - VPEC-T, AEA, SIP
This sounds a lot like the SOA discussions I've seen recently...with most of the current focus being on the pre-process phase (e.g., how to carve up the objects in "SOA-space" so that we can begin to talk about a SOA-centric process). Or maybe I'm just seeing connections where there really are none... :-)
