Is Most SOA Really JBOWS?

In a fun post, Joe McKendrick provides Ten Ways to distinguish Just a Bunch Of Web Services from SOA.

I take this mostly as a measure of the relative immaturity of current service-oriented implementations...however, it does help illuminate the possibility that full-blown SOA may be overkill for some needs. In two related posts (here and here), Joe discusses the immaturity of SOA (a topic that has generated a fair amount of talk recently).

Joe also references a "15 Ways to Tell It's Not a Cloud", which prompts me observe that it seems like new domains are often easier describe negatively ("what it's not") than positively ("what it is").
