Hyperconnectivity and Micromanagement

Tyler Boudreau has an interesting article on how Network Centric Warfare has created a real risk of being micro-managed. This is nothing new...but if you've never considered the issue, his experience in the Marine Corps is well worth reading.

The story is both comical and frightening. My initial reaction is to dismiss it as the sort of thing that occurs during a technology transition phase....once folks become accustomed to being hyperconnected, they'll understand the need to change the way they operate.

However, I may be naively optimistic...the temptation to Monday-morning quarterback and scape-goat may ultimately be the factor that gates the potential value of NCW and hyperconnectivity.
